AEC

“Money makes the world go round” – AEC, being ASEAN’s one and only economic community, strives to be the epicentre of ASEAN’s economic integration— for ASEAN to integrate its multiple rich economies of countries into the global economy (ka-ching!). Through the facilitation of the free flow of goods, services, investments and skilled labour with AEC’s plethora of blueprints, initiatives and discussions pertaining to pivotal issues in current society, AEC does exemplify how “economics encompasses eclecticism!” In the 21st rendition of this traditional council, the ball is in the delegates’ court — regarding supply chains and poverty, will delegates determine an appropriate course of action, or continue running in the hamster wheel of circular debate?

AICHR

More than just a human rights community, the AICHR is the beacon of hope for people in SEA who have had to experience war, violence and persecution.  Concerned with protecting and promoting all forms of human rights, the AICHR engages in thematic studies and establishes multifaceted approaches. In the 21st rendition of HCMAS, you will venture into the realms of human trafficking and political rights. You will explore the ways to stop transboundary crime, empower victims, and give them a political voice. Prospective delegates, look no further to tackle these perennial issues and pave the ‘right’ way forward for ASEAN!

AMME

To live and let live. AMME is ASEAN’s commitment to co-existing with mother nature, bringing leaders across ASEAN together, not just to fight for their own interests, but also for those of children yet unborn. Till this day, we have been developing off “credit”. Feeding our ambitions and endeavours today with the hopes and dreams of tomorrow. Finally, it is beginning to catch up to us. As more and more payments come due, AMME is where the true struggle for our survival takes place.

APSC

In a world characterised by heightened tensions, instability and extremities, the sound of the drums of conflict have grown increasingly louder. In today’s uncertain age, it is up to you delegates to come up with innovative new solutions to the problems concerning the politics and security of today, working with fellow delegates to decide the future of ASEAN and the region altogether. APSC is where the very struggle for survival plays out. With the recent instability that has gripped ASEAN, can you be the knight in shining armour that ASEAN desperately needs? Can you maintain the delicate peace, and protect what little we have?

ASCC

What distinguishes man from animal? The subtle differences between man and beast, whilst undeniable, are hard to put a finger on. Is it our use of money? But animals too barter and trade. Is it the idea of human rights? Animals too have established rules within their societies, and humans themselves rarely abide by international law. Is it politics? Animals too have hierarchy and power struggle. The answer, dear delegates, is the priceless treasure that is culture. Culture is at the heart of who we are and what we do, and is unfortunately an often neglected aspect of sustainable development. ASCC has the perennially difficult task of safeguarding ASEAN’s crown jewels - all things concerning socio-cultural.

IPG

Throughout history, the press has exerted a major influence on global development. As framed accurately by famed military commander Napoleon Bonaparte, “four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets.” The media, or the lack thereof, can single-handedly change the course of the world’s development. Long preceding the advent of the radio, television,  and broadcasts, one of the earliest forms of media was the press. Fueling the Renaissance in the late 15th century; advancing the Scientific Revolution in the 16th to 17th century; empowering the Europeans to push for social change during the period of Enlightenment in the 19th century; functioning as the fifth estate to serve as a vital check and balance against governmental authority in the 21st century.

Continuing this tradition, IPG hopes to provide delegates with the opportunity to analyse the issues at hand in various communities through a different lens and to report on the ongoing events in such communities by taking into account the nuances in the stances of the delegations of delegates.
